Young Team, Big Goals

The boys lacrosse team at Delaware County Christian School has had an impressive start to the season, going undefeated in their first three games. These wins include a 12-1 victory over Tri-State Christian Academy, a 8-6 win against Avon Grove Charter, and another 12-3 victory over Tri-State Christian Academy. After going 5-3 in their debut season last year, the team is showing noticeable growth, evident in both talent and teamwork. Led by head Coach Antonio Gibson, the squad is gaining momentum and hopes to continue its season-opening winning streak.
This season, the team is led by captains Jay Gricco and Christian O’Donnell, both juniors, as well as sophomore Liam Amann. Each of them brings a unique energy and leadership style to the team. “We’re looking good, and I think there’s a lot of improvement to be made,” said Jay, “but I’m confident in us and our performance over the next couple of seasons.” Christian concurred with Jay’s points, explaining, “The season has been going great so far. Everyone’s working hard and putting in effort, and we’re excited to keep improving.” This commitment to progress has been evident in their strong start and close-knit teamwork on the field.
Senior Caleb Videon, another key leader on the team, added, “We’ve come a long way since last year. It’s cool to see all the improvements, and I think we’re just getting started.” So far, Liam and freshman Elijah Iannacone have led the team in points, with 25 and 10 points respectively, providing a consistent offensive presence in the early part of the season.
Despite being a relatively new program, the team is already planning and hoping for the future. In fact, several middle schoolers, most of whom are eighth graders, have joined the team this year. Moreover, a few eighth graders have even started in games, gaining valuable experience and helping build a strong foundation for the future.
With hard work, dedication, and a strong bond, this team is proving that they are a force to be reckoned with; furthermore, that they are only getting started.
